CounSol vs Ensora Mental Health (TheraNest): Scheduling, Billing & Pricing

CounSol and Ensora Mental Health are both built for private therapy practices, both price per clinician, and both cover scheduling, notes, a client portal, and billing. The differences show up in how insurance claims get filed and in what each tier includes.

Short answer

CounSol.com prices per user per month in four tiers (about $49.95 to $69.95, with insurance billing in the Plus tiers) and files claims through an Office Ally clearinghouse connection. Ensora Mental Health, formerly TheraNest, prices per therapist from $29 a month on its Essentials plan, with insurance billing on higher tiers, its own clearinghouse workflow, and an optional RCM service. Both include scheduling, a client portal, and Wiley Treatment Planner options.

Choose CounSol if

  • You're mostly private pay or file a modest number of claims and are comfortable with Office Ally.
  • You want month-to-month terms with clear per-user pricing.

Choose Ensora Mental Health if

  • Insurance is a large share of revenue and you may want billing help from the same vendor later.
  • You're a growing group that needs a Premier-tier feature set.

Know before you file claims through CounSol

CounSol's help pages describe setup as creating an Office Ally account, connecting it by SFTP, and asking Office Ally to enable 999 and 277 reports and ERA enrollment per payer. They also note Office Ally's monthly fee applies when more than half of a practice's claims go to government or non-participating payers.

What neither one does for you

Both CounSol and Ensora Mental Health get claims out the door. Neither diagnoses why a claim denied, corrects it, and resubmits it, or keeps authorizations and payer rules current. That work stays with your billing staff or an outside biller, whichever system you choose. It's the part Stable automates, alongside the EHR you already run.
